Indicator switch ball bearings

Post by 59wagon »

Whilst getting my indicators to work, I decided to remove the contactor just to have a look (didn't have to do this but was curious as to how it worked). With it removed, I thought I heard something drop to the car floor but couldn't see what. I then noticed these three ball bearings rolling around:

I'm guessing they go where the arrows show below, and that the noise I heard was the 4th bearing which I still haven't found :frownn: :

Am I guessing correct?

Thanks,

John

Have you tried a magnet to find it John? Been a while, but I recall these are best not fiddled with if unnecessary. I’m sure like me and you that many have been down this path. Easiest and if you can’t find the ball and get it back together is to rat one from another column. I have a few here if you can’t find one local.
Cheers
Clay

I’ve got an FB manual coming in the post right now, but I looked in my FE/FC one and FX-HR one and neither go into that much detail. Perhaps the FB manual will.

Yeh Clay, I tried a strong magnet across the whole front floor and under the seat - all I got was lots of little bits of rust, a spring washer and two screws 😊
I can get a replacement steel ball ok - I measured the others at 1/8”. Just need to make sure they go back in the right place. Thanks for the offer.
Cheers,
John
