RED rims - whats the history behind these?

Post by FJWALLY »

Thinking of cleaning up and powder coating my original rims and have seen the odd car going around with red rims.

Whats the history or reason behind going for the red rims? - does it signify anything?

I have a Grey ute and it might look pretty cool - curious!

Nice thanks Nathan - thats exactly what I needed.

Ive gone the red treatment on the specs cover / inlet manifold and air cleaners so it might be a nice little call out - the interior is also red from factory

Thanks for the pic - excited now. :laughinggg:

Everyone knows that red rims make your car go faster !!!
When you're faced with an unpleasant task that you really don't want to do, sometimes you just have to dig deep down inside and somehow find the patience to wait for someone else to do it for you.

Are the ones on Gazza's ute 14 inch - or maybe 15 inch - they look like they have a lot more rim area outside the hubcaps.
After inspecting my original rims two at least are not going to be good enough for tubeless 9too much rust around the valve hole) and the spare has a different profile around the tabs that hold the cap on so might be off a later car.

Thinking even going to 15 inch rims if I can find them - anyone know if they are easy to get - I still want the hubcaps to work though.

I would talk to a wheel and rim works and see if they can make up rims to take your original centres. HK 14" rims won't the original caps.
