LC drums

Post by mph »

Hi guys,
Ive just installed a lc diff in my fb and im chassing all new brake bits for them, looking online the kits say rear drums to suit vehicle fitted with disk front and the other kits says to suit fitted with front drums, when i bought the diff it wasn't in a car so im not sure if it had disk or drum front,
Does any one know how to tell the difference, what to look for or if the kits are interchangeable
Thanks

I'm 99% sure you should buy what you need, if your running discs buy the matching drums.

I would imagine that one is wider than the other but which way they are I have no idea best to speak to a brake place

I would say that the housing will take either setup and your choice will depend on master cylinder/booster setup as well as front brakes.

What size wheel cylinders are in the diff now?...The LC/LJ's had quite a few different size rear cylinders depending on build date, engine size (4 or 6 cylinder), and also the manufacture of the front callipers as well as the master cylinder diameter.......And if the original car was set up with drum/drum or disc/drum.

I should have mentioned that my FB is still running the stock front FB drums with a remote booster added i think vh or something?
I have the pbr cylinders from the diff but no part numbers on them.
I suppose there is no point in matching these with new ones as like you guys have mentioned they could suit a disk front end.
So im thinking to just order a kit to suit a drum front drum rear and hope they fit?
ill check in the day light if the FB ones will fit in the lc Diff?

FB won't fit in LC if you have drum brake front just buy the drum brake kit, the cylinders in the pic look to be disc brake ones when you get cylinders get shoes aswell as disc and drum shoes are different aswell
