That's really trick.

Way too cool to ever use though...

Hahaha nice one Craig.
I know they won't be used by the current owner. (not me)

Interesting triple manifold:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Holden-138-g ... _25wt_1362

Take away the two adapators, and the three carbs would sit sideways (fuel bowls to the side, not the front). Must have been made for BV carbs (BX carbs are cross-flanged). Running a BX carb on these without the adapators would make the floats very, very susceptible to acceleration and braking. Wonder if they are made to fit the wider (eg red motor) BV2 flange spacing? Havn't heard of a BV1 carb.

Cheers,
Harv (appreciator of fine Strommy engineering).

Pretty sure that manifold is designed to run either two or one carb, not three.

You're right - pretty close spacing. Interesting, I've seen the 1-or-3 thing on the marine manifolds (where the flange face is angled), but not on a road manifold (flat face) before.

Mmmmmm.... Stromberg and SU porn.

What's the story with the red manifold second from the left? Four-barrel square bore to red?

Cheers,

Manifold made by A.A. Cox of Wells Street, Adamstown NSW (near Newcastle) to suit EE Stromberg (the hot-rodder's Stromberg 97) onto Holden grey motor (currently on eBay):

This would be interesting... the original single BXOV-1 flows around 162cfm@3"Hg, whilst the Strommie 97 flows only 150cfm. Some research however shows why the seller had a wierd carb on this manifold. The carb in the eBay ad appears to be an ECG-6. These are a Holley carburettor used by &*#@, very similar to the Holley 94 but with an automatic choke. The ECG-6 shares the same 3-bolt flange as the Holley 94 and the Stromberg 97. Few people outside the USA would know what an ECG-6 is, but many know what a Stromberg 97 is.

Both the Holley 94 and the Stromberg 97 flow the same (or less) volume than the bog-stock standrad grey motor carb - 162cfm@3"Hg for the 94, 150cfm@3"Hg for the 97, and 162cfm@3"Hg for the Holden BXOV-1. The reason that the manifold has an ECG-6 on it is that the ECG-6 venturi is bigger than the 94 or 97 - the ECG-6 will flow around 200cfm. The upshot is that if you swap an 84 or 97 onto the manifold, the grey motor will perform worse. Keep the ECG-6 and it will perform better, but without the boggy effect most 2-barrels give on a grey.

Cheers,
Harv
