Re: red motor question???
Sam, I dont know much about them, but apparently they were marked '2250' cc (approx; which is close to 138 c.i.); a 6 cyl red motor that was available in some early 6 cyl Toranas.
Note that they were same capacity as the last of the greys at approx 138 c.i.
I'm sure there will be someone here with more definite info, but you could check the Torana forum...
cheers,jack

Re: red motor question???
sumps, EH is the easy and common one, my van before i fitted the V8 had a H/KTG sump on the red 6 not sure on how it was done as it was in the van when i bought it, a mate used a H/DR sump by cutting the drop down off and turning it around and rewelding it back on, and if you look in austmods thread his engine also has a modded H/DR or H/KTG sump
as for the red motors i've had a few 138 reds and all except 1 went quite well (like chalk and cheese compared to 138 grey ) even the dud was better than most grey powered cars i've been in (not knocking greys just making a comparison )

Re: red motor question???
The 138 Red motor was rated at 90 horsepower and the 138 grey was rated at 75 horsepower so an extra 15 horses makes the difference.
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

Re: red motor question???
I had a modified HKTG sump that is being used in a car on this forum.
I recon you could only use this type with a HR steering link rod because the are bent away from the cross member giving it a bit more room than the standard FB EK link.

Re: red motor question???
yeah the van had the HR steering link, it really confused me at first as the engine mounts were to the rear of the crossmember, where i wasn't 100% sure was that it had a H/KTG steering box so thought it could have possably had other steering components movedTrev wrote:I had a modified HKTG sump that is being used in a car on this forum.
