Re: rear main help
Hi fellow grey motor enthusiast, this is my first time to post a thread on fbekholden forum. I am in the process of rebuilding a grey motor this information may help some of you regarding the rear main seal, I was not happy with the new one that came with the gasket kit so installed a graphite compound seal that I had from a diesel motor it fitted the block and cap perfectly was nice and firm and not a problem to cut with a razor blade the cost of the seal was about 36.00 dollars as the seal was a lot firmer then the rope one that came with the gasket kit it took a little longer to compress so the crankshaft would turn smoothly. When the motor is assembled and running i will let you know the outcome.
