My FB has very loose steering....has sports steering wheel....if I put old steering wheel back on, would that help? or is there a more sinister problem going on in the steering???

Check your steering gear for worn areas , they are adjustable to an extent - get someone to move the wheel from side to side while you get under it and look where there is slop - tighten/adjust sloppy bits as required.
When you're faced with an unpleasant task that you really don't want to do, sometimes you just have to dig deep down inside and somehow find the patience to wait for someone else to do it for you.

If it is sloppy only on the straight ahead position then worn worm gear is the likely problem.
