Engine needed!

Post by Brodie »

Pulled the old red apart today only to find its stuffed!

So does anyone have or know of any decent red/blue/black motors for sale?

Being a student, I dont exactly have money to throw around but i'll pay for a decent engine.

Yep,

Think the HR's might have to go........

I do actually have a brand spankin fully rebuilt 186, still in her blanky, was thinkin of sellin but will prob regret.. Ya never know when it could be required!

The 161 is nothin more than a motor 2 be mobile, she's no rocket.

My advice would be to go the extra yard on somethin decent.

If you are keen on building a motor, i sent Andrew some docs on building a quik 6 (via vintage holden) a while back. I cant find the link but it was well worth a look, Maybe Andrew or Keith may have available still.

They claim a blue 173 to be the one to work. (VH commodore 2.85L)

Good luck mate.

Thanks for that Ken! Yeah i found something that seems pretty good. The old motor is rebuildable but i dont have the time or money at the moment :(
Once im used to the car and have some coin to play with, i've got a 202 block and bottom end here which i'll build up. With the head and carbs dads lending me to go on it, it should be pretty stout  140-150 at the wheels should be pretty achievable (if Paul has anything to do with it!)

Thanks again for the offers

Also,

I've got no use for the old motor now so im looking to offload it if anyones interested or knows of someone who can make use of it.

Its a 186 (40 thou over). No cam or externals - so basically block and bottom end.
Head has a rooted exhaust valve. Number 4 bore is a bit scored but a re bore will get rid of it.
Definately rebuildable.

Anyone?
