I couldn't find a thread on the nats but the grand champion for this year is a good choice.

Good choice. I guessed it would've been a toss up between the EK and this Charger.

There were quite a few cars which I thought would be there which weren't though.

Id hate to be a judge. Id also hate to be the other 99 guys who spent a couple of hundred grand and hope to win.
They really are rolling works of art.

A couple of hundred grand ???? and the bloody rest ....................
Chequebook cars do nothing for me - the Charger looks stupid with those cartoon wheels and the FB wannabe looks funny without the rain gutters - the roof looks too bulbous. There should be a percentage of the points for grand champion allocated for the amount of work done to the car yourself - not for planning meetings or buying bits but actual hands on work.
When you're faced with an unpleasant task that you really don't want to do, sometimes you just have to dig deep down inside and somehow find the patience to wait for someone else to do it for you.

I was lucky enough to have a ten minute chat with a guy from the chop shop while they were cleaning the FB up in the pavilion.
Very nice blokes who deserve the win ,I hope their business thrives for eternity.
I took loads of photos of this beautiful machine and I definitely let them know that I was only there to see it and Fitzpatrick's FC.
After my mate got the shits with me getting every angle of photo then chasing it when it went out into the sun for another hundred we went over and got a $20 kebab  .who should just happen to be standing there getting a kebab himself ,Pete ! Peter Fitzpatrick ,I can call him Pete now we are mates ha! ,also a very easy going nice guy that was bloody awesome to have a 10 minute chat with.
Man that just made my day .
So by the time the great unveiling was about to start I turned on my camera and it dropped out but I was wrapped with the days outcome.

Who's Peter Fitzpatrick?

Reminds me of that old joke...Peter Fitzpatrick and Patrick Fitzpeter...

Have to agree with Blacky's comments about the purple Valiant. Blech! :dohh:

The FK looks well-executed, but, given the choice, I wouldn't choose it over a good original car (regardless of price).

I entered a model plane nationals a few years ago. When you present the model for judging you have to state whether the model was buikt from a kit or scratch. If its built from scratch you have to stipulate what parts were bought ready made.
In my case the pilot and the wheels.
At the end you sign a declaration that you built the model.

Although I understand why the judges want to do this I think the item should be judged on its quality not who built it.
The only thing is the builder should get full credit.
Ill never forget a t bucket I painted. I painted it a lime green candy pearl with silver and blue tribal flames.
The car was sold and the new owner had it at a show and was spruicking how he picked the colour and painted it.
His arse dropped out when he finished bragging to everyone when I told him I painted it.

Yeah, 9 bucks for a pack of hot chips, and $4.50 for a coke.

Even the 80 buck entry fee (1 day) was a bit steep :wtf:

Did the guy who built it get to judge it like he did at Motorex?
