Errol the 62 EK standard sedan

Post by Errol62 »

Found this photo of my old sedan c1989. Had fitted 186S, Aussie m20 4-spd, hydramatic tail shaft, EH rear with 3.08 LSD and HR disc front, 6" HT rims with HQ caps and trims, HX bucket seats (yuck). Thought the LSD would get me anywhere and attempted to drive through the sand hills to Baby Lizards surf break. Ended up getting there but only with the aid of the neighbors tractor. Rather embarrassing. Imagethe old single fin Burford on the roof and vivacious bride. Those were the days.

Very nice !!!! so is the car !!!!!!
When you're faced with an unpleasant task that you really don't want to do, sometimes you just have to dig deep down inside and somehow find the patience to wait for someone else to do it for you.

Hydramatic tail shaft is a bolt in fit behind later 7 bearing 6 cylinder motor with trimatic or all syncro three and four speed Aussie boxes. Didn't realise at the time I would have to cut the floor to fit the M20 box in the manual car. Older and wiser now.

Hi Clay,
What has happened to the car since the 90's? It appears it is not currently registered according to DPTI web page.

Stephen

Errol the 62 EK standard sedan

Post by Errol62 »

Refurbed with a blue 202 trimatic battery in the boot and bench seat in 1997 and driven to work daily until taken off the road in 2002.

Started tearing down for rebuild a couple of years ago then decided on the van.
Image

She needs the sills and A-pillar bottoms seeing to as well as the boot seal and a bit around the rear screen trim edge and bottom of rear guards. Once I get the van off the rotisserie it would be good to bring her back to life. She deserves it. Will be easier than the van although liable to lose a few goodies to the current project. We call her Errol but he and it don't seem to fit with the old thing.

Thanks for the interest Stew
Cheers
Clay

Howdy Clay,
Good to see you still have it. The car started out with a 138, then had a 161 transplant, that grew to a 202. What will be next .............. a 253?

138, 202, 192, 3.3. Next could be 138 out to 154 with 3.25" slugs. (dreaming)

Hello Clay,
I see the first pic (with surfboard) was from c1989, but when did you originally get the car? Must be difficult to let it go. I've had Dad's sedan since 1983 and I would certainly struggle to sell that. There isn't too much you have left on it, just a rolling shell.

At least you have been able to source some parts for your van & ute.

She is gone. Sold the plates. Well one of them.
Now I can’t move for parts. ImageImage

I popped the front screen out to trial fit in the van. The rare spares rubber is 30 years old and been on and out five times. Still usable.
