If I had Jay Leno's money, but could only ever own one car, it would have to be a Duesenberg J, the most beautiful car ever made by the people of the USA

1934 Duesenberg J

1933 Duesenberg J

1930 Duesenberg J

If I had the money and could buy more than one car, then they would include the following:

1937 Mercedes Benz 540K

Image

1962 Ferrari 250 GTO

Image

1968 F O R D GT40 MkII 427

Image

1965 Lamborghini Miura

Image

1966 Aston Martin DB6

Image

1955 Jaguar D Type Long Nose

Hey Jay, your Dad's a lucky man. I would definitely add an Auburn Speedster to my collection of Duesenbergs! I think I even had a "Models of Yesteryear" speedster when I was a kid.
My dad has a 2.5L 1948 Riley Roadster sitting in a lean to. It is one of 500 built and about 30 left in Australia. I'm trying to get him to do something to it before it goes too far (though it's off the ground and in not that bad nick). The only thing is they cost a bloody fortune to restore. I emailed one of his old mates in the Riley club the other day and asked about the cost of an engine rebuild. If you do the disassembly and reassembly yourself it costs 6 grand. Then there is all that timber coachwork. I think bootlegger Dave on this forum mentioned once that he restored a Roadster for a client.
Dad also has all the parts and gear to build a 1930s Riley special, including an ultra rare and genuine racing radiator surround, honeycomb radiator and Vertex starting switches. If I had the requisite 100,000 pounds, I would order one of the brand new ERA supercharged 6 cylinder engines from the UK that they are making now. Plus there is a guy in Mittagong who makes pre-war style aluminium racing bodies if you have the chassis (which Dad does). Anyway...

Your dad is going to have one very rare car when it is finished.
Luckily for him it wont look any bit similar to a 36 Boat tail roadster you have posted a picture of. That is what will make your dads cars so much more special.
