Re: Chev EK
Just having a break and back to work again so soon argh !!!!!
Anyway gearbox picked up after a few months of ah MODIFICATION ( love that word !)
So its a VN V8 turbo 700 that has the chev bolt pattern. It has all new internals heavy duty of course, corvette servo, shift kit, stronger springs etc. The electrics have been completely removed and the lock up function now diverts oil into the 4th gear for strength.
Also a cheeky mod is this small converter with modified vanes from a six cylinder, it will let the car take off normally but will stall with bigger revs if need be , you know for that odd off the street race or for the occasional off the street burnout !!!!
Will get back into the body this weekend
Greg

Re: Chev EK
Ok so ticking remember me on log in has worked this time thanks John !
No speedy action shots I'm afraid just boring old rubbing the fingers to the bone !!!!!
Painted the fuel tank and a couple of bits and also put the Torana front together.
The internals of the body, door openings dash and parcel shelf are ready to cop paint this weekend
Still no colour from the paint shop yet, we are mixing to get it close as possible.
I'm going to do the door frames and everything else like under the boot bonnet etc in 2 pack and the outside of the car clear over base. Soon I hope !!!!
Regards Greg..

Re: Chev EK
I know I'm slow with this build but I just don't have the time during the week and the weekends are busy with kids and all sorts of crap !
I really was hoping to do the WA nats but 3 months left and no chance with this. I have had a paint shop trying to get the colour right but the one I'm choosing seems to have some variants so we will try one more mix and that will be it. I wont tell you guys yet just incase I change my mind, it is however a EK colour.
Finally got a spare minute and epoxied the rear, I have some slight imperfections to fix and have 10 days off at Easter to give it another run ! Regards Greg

Hi Greg, I’ve started reading your thread from the start and up to about page 7, way back in 2009 I think. It’s a great read and you’re a clever fella. Shame about the pictures, though, the dreaded photobucket curse.

Not Happy Jan !!!!!!!!
The damn epoxy has peeled off from my lead joints when blowing the dust off.
So interestingly the filler direct to lead in another spot has stuck well but the epoxy has peeled off ?????
I have read all the arguments re epoxy first then filler second but it appears with the lead the epoxy I am using does not bind well so I have a few more days of repairs to do but this time the filler will go straight on top of the lead old school style.
Has anyone else had this issue ?? Or should I remove all the lead and go with a metal filler, any pro's out there ??
Actually I'm glad it happened now as I can fix it before the final colour, it would be a real shit if the colour was on and that peeled off !!!
Keep at it ! Regards Greg

Re: Chev EK
That's a Bummer Greg I would go filler onto the led just rough up the led before the filler go's on aswell so it has something to key into
Sometimes filler will do this too if there isn't enough hardener in the mx I've found
Getting close now though to paint
