Unfortunately it runs off a flux capacitor, so I'm using a portable microwave link with optional gps backup.
It's alien technology, but so is the brain.
Motor is actually a turbo rotary, disguised as a grey.
It's also disguised to run like a grey, so no one will know including myself.

I couldn't help myself either. :D
Oh no! Zim Pirates!

Where's Axe Man when you need him

Still working on the door trim, and slowly getting there.
The plan was to include a striped material, however the fashion expert said it just didn't look as good on the car as she thought it would. :(
And I had to agree. :?

Image

So they will stay as they are.

Image

I'm just adding "Special" badges to finish off the bottom sections, which go with the colour really well. :D

Image

Couldn't stitch the arm rests, so took them to a auto upholstery shop.
I had unstitched and used the originals to cut the vinyl.
$66 to sew both arm rests, sew 2 bits of vinyl together.
Still need to clean up the metal part and get it ready so I can add the underfelt and Rubber tops and finish of the doors, after I get the vinyl back.

Cleaned up and painted the clips for the bonnet emblem.

Image

Image

Have added a few extras....... :D :D

LED light strips, so that I can always see under the bonnet.
One across the top and one on each side. With separate switches.

Image

Image

And have now done both selector seals and the rear housing seal for the gearbox.
Thanks Paul (Fishyweare) for all your help. :D :D
Had to buy the whole cork gasket kit to get the little cork seal, but at $14 that was OK.

Image

Stereo is now also installed. :D
USB music, Bluetooth Music and Bluetooth mobile handsfree connection.
Sounds quiet good. :D :D
The list is reducing, but its still a really long list.

Looking good Finny.

If you turn the LEDS on with the bonnet down, will it backlight the bonnet emblem? It'd be an interesting addition to a set of parkers.

Course, the ultimate in cool would be to get it to flick side to side, Night Rider style. No Hasselhof jokes please  .

Damn... I gotta start paying attention.

Sadly, I asked the kids who Knight Rider was, and they looked at me like I was nuts.

Seems to take a lot of time to get small things done.
And I also seem to get distracted easily.

Now have the front arm rests finished and the "Special" badges installed. :D
Needed to de-rust and paint them first.

Struggling to get the clips in place at the top of all the doors. :(
They are pushing into the vinyl and over the top of the strip, instead of going under the metal strips that runs across the top of all the doors.
I assume that they are supposed to go under the metal strip, but it is so tight to keeps pushing over the top.
Any suggestions ?

Got an old Coke sign to put up on the wall.
Goes with the car colour quite well.
Also a couple of old trunks, should be able to store away a few more parts.

Image

Image

Image

Also found a couple of really good condition "Kent" spotlights.
Lots of really great Chrome but fairly heavy.

Image

Still working on finishing off a few areas.
Had to take the back seat out to get the carpet over the wheel arches.

Image

Now it's back to finishing off the rear section and getting the doors finished so I can put the door cards back it.

Get a large flat-blade screw driver and slide it under the stainless strip from the back of the door trims and lever it gently to "only just" bend the strip in the clip locations. You should then be able to get the clips in by pressing on stainless from behind to make room for the tail of the clip. Otherwise trim some length off the tail of the clip.
It may be more difficult if you ran foam all the way to the top of the door trim, I usually trim back about 8mm of foam from where the top strips go on the door trims.

Thanks stinky I really appreciate that feedback. I'll give it a try. :D

I did trim the foam back on the top of all the doors before putting the vinyl on.

You can see it in one of the earlier photos where I've got the vinyl ready to go on, and you can see the foam stuck down on all the sides but not the top.

Did the rear doors like stinky said and it worked. :D :D

Finished the rear wheel arch covers and the rear seat is back in.
Also tried several times to adjust the rear door alignment, and finally after hours got them where I wanted them.
Still doing it without assistance, which makes it a lot harder. :( :(

Reinstalled some weather proofing before putting the door trim back on.
Image

All clips back on and doors installed, almost forgot the springs under the handles.

Handles back on and all finished.

Next to do the front doors, that will need at least two people.

Car started running a little rough again, and the plugs are fouled up again.
These were brand new plugs and I would have only done 100 klms or so since I put them in.
Just local not highway.

Image

I started to wonder it this was related to the fuel issue I read about, or just a carby issue.
Not wet, just black and obviously not firing that well.

G'day Finny,

Good to see the progress.

For the doors, one way to solve the solo-operation is to use a home-made lifter, like this:
http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/thre ... 84/page-39
(its on the list of cool tools I must one day get around to making... if you make one, can I borrow it so I can sub-lend it to Dave to do my wagon  ?)

Those plugs look like burnt oil to me... hard to tell in the photo, though could be "running rich" soot.
a) is it loosing any oil (dipstick dropping)?
b) do you have a PCV connected? If so, try running it vented to atmosphere and see if the problem goes away.
c) are all the plugs that crappy, or only some?
d) how does the compression check look for dry (rings) and wet (valves and seals)?
e) Does it give a blurt of smoke when you put your boot into it, or on long hills?
f) what carb and jet are you running now?

Cheers,
Harv
