Done a experiment with a product that claimed that it ate rust and returned rusted parts back to clean bare metal it's come in a liquid and a gel I had to use the gel on the body so it was dearer but a little bottle of I think 100ml was $13 so for a experiment I gave it a go as I have always been sceptical on rust products. I did end up doing it a second time to fully clean the metal but it did work so saved sand blasting and having garnet everywhere

Cleaned the whole side up super nice after two 24hr applications

Picture of the other side shows how it would of been originally

Funny you say that on there website there is a guy that made a sprinkler system out of the garden sprinkler systems you get from hardware shops and set it up over his car

the gel wiped off and is easily cleaned up there are directions on the bottle on how to clean its very similar to de-oxidine but i also went over it with a wire wheel and orbital just to finish it off then still applied a de-oxidine afterwards.

Now that sprinkler system is thinking outside the box for sure! The next time I go to the hardware I'll be thinking how could I use this part or that part for my next shed project. Thanks for posting that Toey!

Just some filler of course we all know these old cars have no bog so mines special

Finally got something sealed up so it can sit and I can forget about that little bit

Well been a long time coming and the panel still isn't totally finished but I will keep tinkering and keep slowly progressing

Most acids will reduce the rust but when left to long they make it worse that gel I used was great but then all metal is treated with a metal conditioner which is basically phosphoric acid but once applied the steal must be sealed with a etch or epoxy primer problem with just sealing with a etch is that it is a very pourus primer, 2 pack epoxy has excellent adhesion to bare metal and isn't pourus I deoxidined (metal conditioner) before applying my filler but gave it a good sand before filler went in with 120 on the orby
