Re: WALLY'S EK
that will do - for now - super happy with how it's coming along - Shane at Soda does and awesome job - great attention to detail - not cheap but as the saying goes - do it right once - or something like that anyway

Re: WALLY'S EK
That thing is in outstanding good nick Wally! Very thorough work indeed. Sorry to hear you're not happy with ol' Ray's pans. Dare say they'll massage in to place okay. You can't beat original tin and the ute looks to be of a very high standard. Only the best concourse cars in shows really get their floors scrutinised. By the look of that body you're on the path to that sort of standard.

Re: WALLY'S EK
looking very schmick Wally , a bit of a departure from the orginal plan but that HAS been known to happen .......
When you're faced with an unpleasant task that you really don't want to do, sometimes you just have to dig deep down inside and somehow find the patience to wait for someone else to do it for you.

Re: WALLY'S EK
Thanks Guys.
Yeah Old Ray was a bit funny - I'm not one to complain about having to send something back - shit happens but to have someone tell me if I sent it back he wouldn't send another one (without even seeing it) was pretty disappointing - luckily Matt from Back to Life thinks he can sort it out to look half decent.
I was scared of what would be found when blasting but was astounded that even under the k Frame was nothing more than surface rust - a little heavier on the bottom corner in front of doors but nothing soul destroying.
I'm not aiming at concourse standard - more a period correct car with some personal touches - if someone wanted to come along after me and turn it to bog stock original that would not be a big drama either as I will box up any orriginal stuff and put it away but I'm hoping it can stay in the family and one of the boys will enjoy it after me.
Can only highly recommend Shane from Sodablast - he gets into all the nooks and crannies and gives you a near enough as new base to start with all rust gone and all steel protected for years to come.
Should be starting to go back together in the new year.

Re: WALLY'S EK
A bit more progress - all the underside repairs now done and she's had a coat of Raptor stone guard - deadener to keep her nice for a long time - going to do all the wheel wells and cabin floors and under the timber in tub - works well as a body deadener as well as sealer - in two minds about engine bay paint - leaning towards firewall being body colour grey and front clip black - or should I just go black all throughout?

Re: WALLY'S EK
I went black all throughout on the wagon. It is a little less flashy, but the black is a lot more forgiving of dropped spanners and oil spray.

Re: WALLY'S EK
too many bloody decisions in this caper - - had a sneak peak at the seat last week - still needs a clean and steam to settle it all down and he said he would have the trims back early this week - got a set of armrests to go on them as well.
Apparently the guy he uses for the door trims has copied my originals as the pattern so if they turn out well I'll post the details up - will give the metal trims a new lease of life when she's ready to go back in also.
Unlike me I went a bit overboard and the face is leather so he stitched the pattern in really well - sides and parcel shelf are vinyl - separated the two parts so seatbelts can pass through(having them mounted on the B-pillar rather than parcel shelf.
