Its Time to clean up the FB
Re: Its Time to clean up the FB
G'day Daz,
I don't really have a chrome guy, a while ago when I first took the car apart, I took the bumpers ( front and rear), over riders, tail lights, bonnet bar, headlight surrounds, indicators, 5 hub caps, up to Auckland," Bumper repairs" the bill came to 6k, I felt the price was high but I was and am happy with the job.
A couple of months ago I took a small box of die cast pieces up, grill, badges, stars, the guy quoted some bullshit, like 8k, and I said hell no, I will be up to collect it all, I was about to be raped, so consequently there is no more new chrome going onto my car.
So sorry Daz I don't have any one to recommend, how about out your way in the B.O.P ?
regards
Thomo

I've had success with Advantage in Hamilton and have seen some nice FB stuff done at Wanganui. I have had a lot done at Gisborne but since the son took over the business, the reputation has dropped as well as the quaility. Good luck, The old girl is looking great. Regards Daz.

G'day,
I had to clean the threads from bits of slag left from the chroming process, I don't own a tap, so the first photo is my improvised tap.
Second photo is the seal in place, there is a couple of crusty edges on the seal, but beggars cant be choosers
and the third photo is the tail light in place, I reckon it looks nice.

G'day Guys
Not much happened today just a couple of little jobs, One of my indicator lenses has a crack and I remembered I had a couple in a box of goodies, I lucked out, the lenses in the box are the originals from when the car was new, both have cracks and were changed out in 1965 when the car had 13000 miles, a couple of photos and a bit of cool information.

hey mate, where'd you get the rubber to sit behind the tail lights??

Gday Stu.
The seals are original, I took some advice from a forum member (blacky) washed the seals with hand cleaner and then gave them a drink of baby oil. There is a couple of crusty edges, but for the most part they are in good nick.

Same here. My EK 215 didn't have any gaskets as I recall. Just used a bead of GMH window sealant caulk which was never quite right. Outstanding attention to detail Thomo.

Gday Men,
I have been trying to get a few odds and ends ready for my painter mate, I need to paint the rims, speaker grill for the dash, the little round things which hide the trim nuts on the inside of the doors, so I started to clean up the sun visor which I got off Harv.
