FB Special project
Re: FB Special project
Still busy collecting parts, re-chroming, cleaning, sourcing old for new, buying, trading, swapping. Although sometimes frustrating, it's been a lot of fun.
New right hand subframe tie member and new subframe front member
2k etch primed, POR15, high filled and 2 coats of satin black
Old battery tray
New Battery Tray from Sam Crupi
Grill and bonnet bar off to the chrome guy
¼ vent window assembly courtesy of Blacky
They come up pretty good
The new front end good to go
Old water pump

Old starter motor
Reconditioned locally
The old strommie, snapped during transport
[/URL
Reconditioned from Extreme Fuel Systems
The old manifold polished up nice
Reconditioned dizzy
The new radiator
Windscreen and sun visor trim polished up pretty good
Some more stuff back from the chrome guy
[/URL[/URL[/URL
Some more parts to be diamond blasted and primed
Ended up with about 3 buckets full of nuts, bolts, washers and other bits and pieces to get re-plated

Has been a productive bit of time off, still frustrating waiting for the body work to finish though.

yeah, its all th elittle bits that take up a lot of time, if everything is ready to reassemble once the shell comes back you will smash it together in no time ....

Re: FB Special project
Just another update before Xmas,
While the body is still up in Toodyay, I've been starting to put a few things back together, which has been a pretty big learning curve but lots fun
Full recon on the Crashbox, bit of a tidy up and some paint.
Courtesy Lights all sorted
Stripped and cleaned the Rear View mirror, had a new mirror hand cut from Kalamunda Glass
Stripped, cleaned and rechromed the Heater/Air controls
New Pedal Box, blasted, powder coated and zinc plated
New hand brake assembly, painted and zinc plated
Bench seat metal side panels, sanded, high filled primed and ready to paint
[/URL
Stripped and cleaned 3 x ¼ Vent Window frames, soaked these in WD-40 for 3 days so I wouldn't snap the pivot pin
[/URL
[/URL
Original Fuel Cap, re-chromed and zinc plated. It didn't have a key but was lucky enough to able to get one cut and the local Lock + Key joint

[/URL
The original radio given the full treatment care of Vintage Wireless, bought the new fascia from the boys of here, polished and painted the SS trim, a new Diamond Dot and cleaned and painted the tuning knobs
