Well it's been a while, just enjoying the car and doing other projects on the house and oct 16 i bit the bullet and ordered a independent rear end from V6 Conversions.
i picked it up on my way back from QLD as i was up there buying a VE commodore ute as my VX ute was parked at work and two other cars hit each other and hit mine as well ( a write off) got $5k for it was't worth $500, so i was happy. got the VE for $8k on the 15th .
got to V6 Conversions on the 16 december last day of the year for the guys.
Now it's time to start the job of putting it in,not a simple fit
the VS petrol tank is in the way on one side and that's a shitfight
and i see what it hits near the back seat as it is a big unit to fit in
will post photos tomorrow night ?

it's got the bolts in the front only the back needs to be lifted 200mm for the back to bolt in
Image
there the tank straps in the way along with alot of metal

Image
here you can see the 200mm it has to come up
Image
i can't get the fronts in with both bushers on as it's 70mm where it goes it's 62mm (any answers)

you could remove the flange parts off the bushes and just use a washer either side to take up the slack - the load is majority on the bush inside the pipe anyway and by the looks of it those units don't move much if at all once in the bush housings so you could theoretically use solid bushes.
To fit them all you will need to have new mounts made up and welded on - wouldn't think thats a big deal to do same time your cutting the slots in the other end to fit those pivots in - your new tank is going to eat into your boot space pretty bad.
You will find me lost somewhere!

Is the axle centred in the wheel arch - it may be just pic but looks to be too far towards the back?

yes it looks like about 50mm,will be talking to Pat about it on monday. i should be able to move it all up 50mm, there is room to do so and then i can make my own mounts that fit better
this is the new rear end (too far back)

this is with the old diff ( just right)

spoke to Pat today and he wants it back so he can put it on the gig and move it forward 50mm,
I'll do some more measurements with it in and then sit the old diff back in, to make sure i get the right measurement, and send it back

To me it looks like the arms that go to the rear should be angled down a little, would pull the setup away from the body = less modification,
Just going by the pics tho
You would think he would have had a body there to set it all up on to test before he sold one
