We should have another spanner weekend and raise your tailshaft tunnel

Hi All,

Minor update.

I have entered the Nostalgia Drags on 23 October 2016.

Since my last update, the car has received water/meth injection, some more oil leaks and a few rust bubbles.

I have had it tuned and it is making a disappointing 180rwhp. It is running low boost of around 12psi, and unfortunately lifts the head at 14psi.

I think it is time for some ARP head studs and a heap of boost.

I'll keep you all posted as for what time it manages at the strip. Any bets?

I'm not liking my chances of racing this weekend.

The tuner has detected that the head is now lifting with any boost, and my new head studs won't arrive until tomorrow at the earliest.

On the way home from the tuners, it was popping and farting with moderate application of the loud pedal. It isn't over heating, so I don't think that the copper head gasket has let go.

I'm going to attempt to replace the standard stretched head bolts with ARP studs without removing the head. I'm not sure if this will work, but as it is running OK when not on boost, I'm hoping I can get away with it.

If I can't get it to seal without pulling the head, I may need to put out a mayday call to any WA members who are knowledgeable in this kind of work to lend a hand to pull the head and re-seal the copper head gasket.
