I hadn’t considered it as I don’t know when the Muppet will be finished.

Gotta do a bathroom Reno now before I hook back into finishing the car

Re: FB Standard Wagon

Yeah the extractors hitting the block doesn’t look good in the photo at all. Will be a job for after the ‘Muppet’ gets back from the auto sparky. High chance I will pull the donk and go back to factory on the oil piping just to give me a base line on what the old girl is doing with its lubrication. ...

Re: FB Standard Wagon

Cheers Blacky.
I did see that at Jaycar but the battery lasts next to nothing so I’ll look for another alternative or a simple kill switch will do the job!

On another note this is the HiTec headers and how they touch on the engine block.

Also some photos of my custom clamps

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute

So it’s just a nice cool motor then?
I thought the gun would show it cooking a bit higher and that the guage was inaccurate.
Seems all good though!

Blacky wrote: Tue Jan 10, 2023 12:24 am GPS trackers are cheap and pretty effective, the better ones have a remote disable feature so you can switch the car off with your phone - if it gives you peace of mind its worth doing.
Blacky have you got a GOS until you recommend?

Re: FB Standard Wagon

Drew, Try assembling the inlet manifold to the head without the gasket to check that nothing's binding. It may be that the locating rings bottom in their holes before the mating faces contact each other. The other problem may be exhaust-manifold-related: if the extractors or headers have extended f...

Re: FB Standard Wagon

Hey Drew I use an Apple Air Tag hidden in my car. Pretty cheap but does have some limitations as it relies on having a mobile phone nearby (regardless of owner) to ID location. In ref to your inlet manifold I can speak from experience. I would not rely on sealant. I took my manifold off and faced i...

Re: FB Standard Wagon

Thanks guys. Yes I think the same. Bu the main issue is if someone wanted to steal the car it would be an older sleaze bag like most of us. I can’t see a young punk actually wanting to touch it. On another note… My inlet manifold has a leak in the gasket, I know this as I sprayed a little brake clea...

Re: FB Standard Wagon

I’m considering fitting a GPS tracker but I don’t know if I’m over thinking it.

I’d like to use the car as a daily driver so that means work, shops and beach carpark and leaving it unattended.

What’s all of your thoughts on this?

Is a kill switch and club lock suffice?

Re: FB Standard Wagon

Thanks guys for the kind words. Had a good couple of days. My auto sparky came over and we wrote a list of little things to get done before taking the car to him. More I do is less he charges me. Got the fuse box mounted and wires slung onto the dash so it’s easy for him to start feeding it though o...

Re: FB Standard Wagon

But she is a goer!
Got it off the stands and drive it out of the shed.
Spent all arvo driving up and down the driveway sitting on a milk crate.
She is off the auto sparky this week to get wired up and I’ll finish her off on its return.
Not long now

Re: FB Standard Wagon

I have been through this as well more so with a red motors and now Chev. Rule of thumb, old school is 7 PSI every thousand rpm so for example 14psi @ 2000 rpm. I know you guys will laugh at that but thats what i aim for in my chev engines. The red motors that i have cooked bearings on all used high...
