Re: 253 info

Aussie motors show up in the weirdest of places (I once followed a HD Holden through the backstreets of Nairobi), but the UK is unusual. Any idea how the engine got there? The 253 and it's brother the 308 (sometimes derogatorily referred to as the "plastic" engine) share a lot of parts. Ba...

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute

It would be tempting to get rid of some of those port casting goobers with a Dremel, though you'd have to strip it down and clean all the grit out again. Mebbe overkill for this one.

Re: harvs ek 327 wagon

The source of that bit of plastic has been bugging me, so I asked a question over on the HAMB. Some good feedback - it is likely that the item is not plastic, but ceramic. It is probably a piece of ceramic media used in a vibratory bowl to deburr and polish diecast parts. ceramic media.jpg Pretty go...

Slow progress on the FED... my grand plans of finalising the brakes whilst on holiday got shot down by covid :( Found the source of the expression "slingshot" though: "You know what that beast reminds me of, Mick? A slingshot. You know, the way the driver sits back there like a rock i...

Re: Bonnet bird measurements

If you wanna get really funky, centimeters are also used to measure capacitance. 1cm = 0.000000000001113 farads.

Now where did I put that tinfoil hat.... :egeek:

Re: Nominations for improved cooling head gaskets - fourth round

A quick update. The good news: the gaskets have been manufactured, and have been posted to me by the supplier. Should arrive at my place via Aussie Post mid this week. All the packing plywood has been cut, instructions printed out and addresses labelled ready to go. The bad news: I’ve gone back to w...

Re: Bonnet bird measurements

. How about this - Which is bigger 13/17 or 16/21? 13/17 is a poofteenth of an inch bigger than 16/21. Wait till you find out there are both imperial and US gallons… They are bonnet birds… or bonnet budgies…. there is a photo here somewhere of Mr Black doing a good imitation on the bonnet...
