Re: SA club trip to the NAt's in Bumbury

The throttle stick comes with integral kick release, and will help my gluteus maximum relax on the drive. It’s a bit of red neck tech I got from a truckie hauling tuna streaky bay to port Lincoln in the 70s. Used a similar setup on the Toowoomba trip but this one is the beta model. Does it double a...

Re: Harv's Repco HighPower crossflow head thread

Checked in on the progress going on for the head. Head and roller rockers now in the same location. Water jacket plugs out of the top – glad they could get them out, as I couldn’t even with a cheater bar. Solid (not allan-head) plugs being sought to allow the extra rocker shaft support to be added (...

Re: Chrome plater recommendation

Thanks Brett. Spoke to Shane this morning. He has at least an eight month backlog (not that I am in any hurry). He won't do the sump though :(.

He's recommended Astor Metal Finishes in Villawood... gave them a call, waiting on a quote.

Chrome plater recommendation

I have been getting chrome work done by a gentleman in Bundarra, NSW. He has done parts for various cars of mine, and Dad's. When it came time to do the FED, there was no question - packed the parts up and sent them to him. Parts came back a few months later, and I'm really happy with them. The only...

Re: FB219 Standard StationSedan

It's the breather, which allows air in/out of the booster guts (not into the engine!) as the diaphragm flexes. With the booster under the guard, a remote breather is reccomended - see here for what they look like:

Re: FB219 Standard StationSedan

That PS rack looks really neat. Makes the old front-mount UC/LH ones look really untidy.

Re: Harv's FED thread

Needed to make some space in the driveway and shed for Number One Son's VL turbo upgrade project. It's an engine-out deal, so took the speedway engine off the stand and threw it into the FED. It's still sleeping, but will help with some layout work. FED took it's first roll on and off the tilt trail...

Re: Making your own braided hoses

My bad. Should have mentioned that I am interested in making up braided lines for anything other than brakes.

Truth be known, I prefer the crimped-end rubber hoses for brakes… and no need for flexible brake lines on the FED 8)

Re: Making your own braided hoses

My neighbour owns a Pirtek so I just get him to make them and he hangs them on the fence in a bag when they are done 8) Lol. The neighbour is in to racing pigeons. Might not help too much on hoses  Personally I prefer speed flow but race works also do pretty good gear now, they are very simple...

Making your own braided hoses

I really, really hate flexible fuel lines. It makes my teeth hurt when I see vehicles plumbed up with long lengths of either rubber hose or braided line. Using some flexible hose though is inevitable - something has to flex between the hard lines on the body/chassis, and the engine which rotates a l...

I tried that on the wagon. Looks OK, but not the same standard as the rest of Ammo's ute (I am no pinstriper). The lines are different thicknesses and the ends of the lines all slightly different.

Re: Ammo's Ute

Any suggestion on how to mark the dashes on the speedo ? Small lengths of adhesive tape, cut to length with a sharp knife/scissors, then stuck onto the ivory background. Pick a thin tape so you only have to cut to length, and a quality one so it does not peel. http://b2b.rollsliner.com.au/listwcs01...
