Safe top speed

Hi guys, I've been scouring the net and the forum but haven't really found an answer to my question - knowing me it's probably on the forum and i've missed it. Anyway, I don't really believe the top speed supposedly being 80mph. What would be a safe top speed for a grey and hydramatic? Given that me...

hydramatic diff ratio

I've had a look around the forum at different diff ratios and it seems that a 3.55 centre is okay with a hydramatic. I'm taking the ek to Melbourne this weekend and want to be able to sit at 100-110 without straining the grey too much. So the question is, is a 3.55 the best option all around, or cou...

Re: Atlas white walls and new tyres

Okay, so i guess if those were ground down it'd just go back to being black. This is the method i'm referring to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkcm3rh60p0 It'd be cool if it worked on the ebay ones, but i don't think i could do it to brand new tyres. And depending how far they needed to be ground b...

Re: Atlas white walls and new tyres

Has anyone got any of the ones off ebay as shown here: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/185-70X13-WHITEWALL-TYRES-HOLDEN-EK-FB-FC-EJ-EH-HD-HR-LC-LJ-LH-FORD-XM-XP-/260967803864?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cc2e4abd8 If so, if the sidewall was sanded/ground back on the black bits, does it show ...

Re: EJ with 202

Dammit!!!
Oh well, after checking with Vicroads and RTA the car didn't come up as being stolen/rebirthed etc anyway so that's okay.
Thankyou for that info anyway Tim, much appreciated at least i know now

Re: EJ with 202

Yeah i'm quite sure i'll be able to squeeze it through with the HR front - who would argue with a modification that makes the car safer. I still think the number engraved is an old engineers approval (why else would the number be engraved twice on the car?) so if the mystery engineer was happy with ...

Re: EJ with 202

Spoke to the RTA today, and Vicroads - neither could shed any light on the numbers engraved on the plenum and subframe. RTA won't entertain the idea of registering it as is just because it's been rego'd in Vic either, so bye bye 202 (suits me fine, not particularly attached to it  ) Spoke to an...

Re: EJ with 202

As a side note the car has V******P engraved on both the LH subframe, and plenum chamber/firewall.
Might call the RTA and ask if they can look it up - would save a helluva lot of time

Re: Reverse Direction of a Pulley

I know a pulley is a pulley, but if you specify maybe it would help a bit more. All i could think of is running a serpentine belt like commodores etc so you could route the belt on the other side of the pulley (would require relocating/moving part in question - hence why it could help everyone come ...

Re: EJ with 202

Good point thommo, if it was rego'd in NSW it'd probably be okay but being VIC i dunno.
I might ask my mechanic first to see if he'd pass it as is before i go through too much b/s

Re: EJ with 202

Yep very true mick, After a bit of digging i've found the VSCCS or whatever it is list, so i can call a few this week. Is it just me or do those pricks at the rta try and hide all that sort of info from us in a lame effort to stop people modifying cars? I guess it'd keep some of the dimwit jap car o...
