Re: Neil's FB Station Wagon
Should have mentioned Neil - with the shrinking disk you really need a large one on a variable speed polisher/large grinder. Heaps easier to control and heat multiple high spots on a larger surface area more evenly at the same time. I started with a small one on a grinder and it worked but was patch...

Re: The loooonnng term EK 2 door project
Nice one - love the look. Look forward to more pictures and insights as to how this is done. Always wondered how to make up the extra width and length in the roof with a chop. Sure there are a number of ways to skin this cat.

Re: Neil's FB Station Wagon
Yes used them. Here is a reminder..... http://www.fbekholden.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=263550#p263550 I would suggest getting a shrinking disk if you don't already have one. That long weld through the center of the panel will warp. Disk helped. Hammer didn't. Also I would use as little of the replac...

Re: Ol' Rusty - FB/EK Sedan
Bit better than my other solution which was a little more agricultural. Off cut of rubber hose with an ID of 1/4'' slipped over the shaft, with a short bit of steel rod stuffed down the end of it.

Re: Ol' Rusty - FB/EK Sedan
Got the handles. Look decent enough although one did not have its protective wrap on the chrome. Used it for my prototype. As I don’t have access to a lathe, decided to print some caps to extend the shafts by 6.25mm. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240301/c22553c5a1eb22ce064eb6e9dcba91d0.jpg It’s...

Re: Ol' Rusty - FB/EK Sedan
Small victory day today. Removed 60 years of hardened grease and dirt off the door latch mechanisms. IMG_3430.jpeg Noticed that there is a spring missing on the drivers latch that gives the lock its satisfying pop when you raise or lower it. Here is the passenger side with the spring fitted. It's ab...

Re: Review Mirror glass replacement.
Hey Andrew, as you have worked it out, any chance you could add the pictures to this thread? You could edit your dropbox post, remove the dropbox link, and add the photos there. This site is full of dead links to file sharing services, would be good to have them on here.

Re: Review Mirror glass replacement.
Glad you worked it out. Had a quick look and I couldn't find a guide to posting pictures so I wrote one. It is in general discussions, forum issues. Not sure if that is a good or logical spot, but it's were I went when I was looking for a guide. Happy to move it if there is a better place. http://ww...

Re: Ol' Rusty - FB/EK Sedan
Love your lateral thinking Scotty. Yes, the pin length is the only difference. Maybe a front knob could be used from a manky front handle, in a good rear handle? Unfortunately all knobs have lost there chrome so button would stand out like a sore thumb ............. or you could cut a 1/4" len...

Re: Ol' Rusty - FB/EK Sedan
Spent the morning looking for an internal rear view mirror. This slowly drifted off and I ended up searching for exterior door handles, which I either need to get re chromed or replace. Checking the current price on Resto Country, and discovered that they are currently selling REAR door handle pairs...

Re: Review Mirror glass replacement.
Further - if there is interest, would be happy to go in for a bulk purchase on something like this (assuming it is the right one). Would save a few $$$ if it has to come from the States. Any takers?
