Re: Reversing camera
Thanks for all the advice guys. I have solved the problem. Something I should have done in the first place, especially after I proved per Rob’s advice, that the problem was excess voltage. I measured the voltage going to the battery and found that I was getting nearly 13 V at idle and 14.4 V at 1500...

Re: Reversing camera
Thanks for the advice Ardiesse .I fitted a noise suppressor to the generator but that changed nothing so I ran the camera off a seperate battery and it works fine. SO I have a supply problem! I am lost here - can anyone suggest a fix for this over supply(excess voltage?) situation???? Thanks, Fraze

Reversing camera
Hope someone can help here. I have fitted a reversing camera to my FB ute. Works fine until I rev the engine, where it flickers and loses the picture. When the engine returns to idle the picture comes back. I guess it is either excess voltage or electrical interference . I have the same brand of cam...

Re: FB Standard Wagon
I have fitted steel cam gears to both my greys, used the original crank gears and didn't bother to check backlash, figured it is what it is - RESULT- both engines are totally quiet, no gear noise at all!!!

Re: Clutch Kit reccomendations
I fitted a "red motor" clutch assy to my FC 6 or 7 years ago with no problems. I was warned that I might have minor issues with contact to the bell housing which might require a bit of grinding to the pressure plate but none of that happened. I fitted an "Excedy"(?) clutch kit to...

Re: Vibration- Ideas please
Thanks for the suggestions Drew. However i have solved the vibe problems on both my FC sedan and FB ute by lifting the nose of the diff on both cars to closely align the diff pinion shaft angle with the gearbox output shaft angle. Very satisfied. I did along the way check the axle mounting flanges a...

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Hi Clay, I don’t think alloy castor wedges are a good idea. When you insert the wedge between the insulator pad and the axle pad, the “lug” on the insulator pad no longer engages with the hole in the axle pad so you no longer have positive centering. By using steel caster wedges you can tack weld th...

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Very interested in Gledge’s comments on drive line angle. Simple fact however - with nose of diff down by 3 deg I had vibration in both cars and with nose up no vibration !!!! (At 100kmh)The vibration I had in both cars was quite severe. I will stick with my fix, cheers, Fraze

Re: Vibration- Ideas please
Hi Harv, interesting concept to reset the springs to achieve correct drive line angle. Doable of course but wow, the calculations to get the correct angle, then getting the spring guy to work to those dimensions does my head in. I will stick to wedges. Putting packers under the lower spring plates w...

Re: Vibration- Ideas please
For those of you who have been following this thread I am happy to say that I have solved the driveline vibrations. It was driveline angles! This morning I took reading of the angles of the gearbox shaft, prop. Shaft and diff pinion. I then slackened off the nuts for the rear spring / shock absorber...

Re: Vibration- Ideas please
I have been doing some more reading on the subject and it seems that having the gearbox output shaft and the tailshaft at the same angle could pose a problem with vibes However using the Hardy Spicer guidelines my 4 deg angle is "safe" up to 3500rpm. With my 3.55 diff ratio apparently at 6...

Re: Vibration- Ideas please
Ok so now I have watched a couple of youtube videos on drive shaft angles and phasing. I set the FB ute up on stands and got it as level as I could, visually. Then using my iphone as an inclinometer I got the following readings. 1. Phasing - spot on, 0 deg both ends across both sides of the yokes. T...

Re: Vibration- Ideas please
Thanks for the input guys, to answer the queries.... GPI- Mechanical to body mounts are all good, new rubbers all thru on both cars. The FC sedan is an original, unrestored and un molested car so nothing has changed from factory. Blacky- i haven't pushed either car over 100 kmh so I will have to see...

Vibration- Ideas please
Hoping for someone's "light bulb" moment here. I have an FC sedan and an FB ute and both have an identical driveline vibration. It is quite a strong vibration which comes in almost exactly at 100kmh on both vehicles. It is coming thru' the driveline as I can coast out of gear and the vibe ...
