Re: EK Fuel Gauge pegs to the right on ignition.
Yes, they are serviceable... kind of. From memory, someone here (I thought it was Clay, but apparently not) pulled one apart by drilling out rivets and cleaning... can't remember where that post is on the forum though. They are also available new from Rare Spares. https://www.rarespares.net.au/rares...

Re: Project 2.
The banjo fitting seals with two washers, one of which is up against the float bowl body.
You probably don't need bigger fuel lines.

Harv

Re: Project 2.
I'd re-run the fuel line from the pump to the carb in larger line, and use a different adaptor (1/8-NPT to 3/8 inverted flare) at the pump. An easier way out is to get a banjo fitting that runs to a nipple (Holley part number 26-25). Point the nipple down 45 degrees. Slide the flare nut back slightl...

Re: Family Affair Ek Ute
You put a water tap/valve in one of the heater hoses feeding the heater core. Water on = hot air. Water off = warm air because the tap leaks 8) The tap is often put under the engine bay, but can also live inside the car. Get fancy with the tap, and you can run it off the dash control slider thing. Y...

Hi Brett, A man of your caliber needs triple webbers, there is no other marriage for an angry six !! Yes all those cars look awesome, always liked FC's as well. Regards Greg A Holley will do the job, but the induction noise out of a gaggle of Italy's finest is incredible. Some info here if you go t...

Re: EK Fuel Gauge pegs to the right on ignition.
Don't ask my children. Every time they drive my car, the fuel gauge pegs over to the left  How they manage to get the car home, and into the driveway with not enough left in it to start is beyond me. Ninja fuel management skills. Pegging to the right means the sender is sending LOTS of resistan...

Re: Gearbox connecting rod. Bush needed?
The little bakelite insulating sleeves, bakelite spring doover and horn contact get fussy on how they are installed. Hint: before pulling ANY of the steering wheel apart, disconnect the battery. That sounds like the kind of advice you would get in a generic Gregory's service manual, but it is for a ...

Re: Gearbox connecting rod. Bush needed?
If you get stuck, I have a puller I can loan you. Easier to troubleshoot if we understand what you pulled apart, and what changed. Was the horn working before you started? How much of the horn bar, steering wheel, horn contacts, honeypot, levers did you pull apart to reinstall 3-on-the-tree? Cheers,...

Re: Hand-crank for grey motor
I went to sea when I was 17 and the ship I was on had a 2 cylinder Lister emergency air compressor, if you got the cranking wrong when you dropped the decompression cocks it would throw you into the bulkhead     They only tell young apprentices about decompression levers after w...

Re: Harv's FED thread
Thanks gents. I've got one of those cable-stoppers on order, and will see if I can make it work. You'd think that a cable-to-valve handle fitting would be common, but not so much in practice. The ARP bolts are 44-47 Rockwell C. On Moh's scale of hardness, they appear here: Hardness Material 1 Talc 2...

Re: Red Rattler Revamp
A trick I learned from Rob (with thanks).
The cast iron wheel cylinders are fine for daily drivers.
Anything that sits for more than a month between drives needs stainless-lined wheel cylinders.
Cheers,
Harv (master of leaky rear wheel cylinder changes).

Re: Hand-crank for grey motor
Yep, had my share of hand cranking. Back when there was Aerostart and ether, but no Start Ya Bastard. Learned that Lister is a four-letter word. Good thing on the FED is that the huffer lets me run low compression, and I can get a bit of a crank up before unearthing the magneto. Even better is I can...
