Re: hq rotors redrilled to early holden pattern
i'm puzzled by all this why not just use H/KTG rotors :? good enough for big heavy H/KTG 327 and 350 monaros and everything smaller  or just use H/QJZX wheels with HQ discs they're pretty much the same rim as H/KTG then if yor worried about rear stud pattern change it to HQ easier and safer t...

Re: hq rotors redrilled to early holden pattern
Ive heard of atleast once a disk broke due to having a second stud pattern drilled through the webbing ,vaugely something like a disk is brittle and can crack , Could be a scary ride if the broken disk tore off the caliper ,common sense prevails . Pay the extra ,do the job right and feel comfortabl...

Re: hq rotors redrilled to early holden pattern
You can squeeze the second hole in next to the webbing if you are careful. Are you able to whack up some photies of the re-drilled discs at all ?? especially a piccie of the inside of the rotor showing where the new holes are in relation to the support webbing. If it doesn't interfere with t...

Re: hq rotors redrilled to early holden pattern
If you are clever you can knock the old studs out and redrill the stud holes off to one side a bit with no dramas. Dunno if its legal(probably not) but there is no reason for this mod to fail. I have a couple here that have been modified that I can post photos of if you cant imagine what I am descr...

Re: Removing flywheel?
Watch your fingers as you prise the flywheel off the mounting face of the crank. They ( the flywheel ) can let go and if you aren't ready for it and have your fingers in the way, they can get squashed. Good news is, you will only do it once, normally ( in my case years ago) it only happens to appren...

Re: Engine numbers
I think the "P" is a restamped engine buy the police? Just what I've heard :? . Yep, "p" Prefix usually denotes a replacement engine number given to a replacement block and stamped in manually. The numbers in those days were given out by the Police in the various s...

Re: hq rotors redrilled to early holden pattern
G'day Luke, I've also been doing a bit of chasing for some HQ rotors in early Holden stud pattern so I'll share with you my multiple hours of internet research and phone calls if you like. As far as I can find, DBA ( Disc Brakes Australia ) are the only manufacturer of undrilled HQ rotors however yo...

Re: Turbo 253
I have it bored out 60thou and will be getting a 350 crank along with cam grind and oversized pistons block deck etc it will end up a 310. So I have been told today by the builder, yes it will cost a bucket but WTF are you gonna do with your money but spend it. Lots of blokes might say "...
Re: 22inch Ek
Make sure you keep your build up photos for your engineer to see. There's some damn fine professsional workmanship gone into this build, I'm sure an engineer would be happy to inspect this one when the time comes. .

Re: Mystery engine mount plates
Yep, exactly the same and the EJ was supposed to be the best of the grey blocks to have.parisian62 wrote:Steve - yep definitely home made. They do have that home made look about them
Would I be correct in assuming an EJ block would have the same external dimensions of earlier grey blocks for FB and EKs...?

Re: Turbo 253
I remember seeing a stroker kit for the 253 which took it out to 310 somewhere, just googled it and came up with this web site. http://www.pro-stroke.com.au/stroker_kits.html  Yep, that was the mob I was thinking of.It would be interesting to know which crank they use for 310.I'm guessing a 3...

Re: Turbo 253
Couldn't you just bore the 253 out to 308 spec bore, and with the 350 crank it then becomes a...................350? Oddly enough, I think a 253 and 308 have the same stroke, and in stock form achieved maximum power at the same rpm. Talking about weights, my rego papers say 1090kg (EK). :? N...
