Blacky wrote:Little bit confused here, how much of the rear quarter did you replace ? Was it a full ute/van panel you had or an FC wagon rear quarter ?

Nice progress either way [emoji106]

Re: Family Affair Ek Ute

So the panel beater is ripping in , has replaced the left rear quarter so nice to see it straight again after all these years .. I was lucky to get a hold of a genuine nos rear quarter panel 10 years ago and held onto it. Have ordered a heap of stuff from retro rods , they are now doing floor panels...

Re: Family Affair Ek Ute

Hi Sneezy as Brett has said. You will find that the floor pans between models are basically identical the really only difference is the fuel tank area, Ute, Panel Van and Wagon all had the square fuel tank, you can even see there in your photo where the back seat floor support is  for the wa...

Re: Family Affair Ek Ute

The bit you cant buy new is the hump part where the rear shock mounts are. It's a tough bit too because its multiple layers. All these repairs are in Project 2 and others. Unfortunately your rust was our rust[emoji3]. What are your A pillars like at the bottom? The left side is good the right side ...

Re: Family Affair Ek Ute

Thompson chassis at Traralgon make the rear ute floor now. Otherwise you can cut up a panel van like I had to do. Some parts I used on my ute and some went to other forum members fairly recently. Front and rear floor panels are readily available, generally through rare spares. Thompson chassis or s...

Re: Family Affair Ek Ute

At the risk of being a smartarse, what you are showing there is pretty standard subframe rust. Legs and the angled bits are all available from Rares ( I might even have the short angled radiator support pieces as well for postage cost) and easily replaced. The panels look pretty good and easy repai...

Re: Family Affair Ek Ute

I bought a “rust free” subframe for $800, then spent a week fixing bodgy repairs that had been double skinned, bogged and painted over, including cut and shutting my original chassis number in to the new subframe FB ute fixer upper, EK van on rotisserie That's what worries me in buying another , pr...

Re: Family Affair Ek Ute

Any photos of how bad it is mate? They are all in need of repair these days to some extent. Not yet mate will go have a look at it tomorrow or Friday. The panel beater reckons about 3 k to fix it . I guess we would know it's good then and not risk getting another that needs work Sent from my SM-A54...
