You need to make sure the timing is correct. If you don't have a timing light get someone who has one do it. Check the tension on the inlet manifold bolts. There may be a slight leak there - maybe the gasket is a little on the bad side. Check there is no leak on the vacuum hoses. Molasses mixed with water about 3:1 works well also. It takes about a week to remove the rust. Check it every couple of day and give it a bit of stir around. I have just done the trims on my FC using a rag wheel on my grinder and using a stick of cutting compound brown in color.
