Bosch distributor

Hi, Any chance anyone has a Bosch distributor for a 138 they're prepared to part with? It'll be going into a late 138 block for an EK.

I thought I had one... until I didn't.

Re: 138 Manual Flywheel

Cheers Clay - depending on whether I can find one up here in time, I might start looking at freight costs (or an excuse for a road trip...). The engine guy reckons it's not gonna get looked at for at least 5-6 weeks, so I'm thinking the early part of next year is when things'll start getting serious.

138 Manual Flywheel

Hi, I've been told I've got an engine rebuild imminent so I dragged out the parts from my spare motor to take to an engine rebuilder recommended by the mechanic. Problem is I seem to have a flywheel for a hydramatic transmission instead of a manual. Has anyone got a manual flywheel they'e prepared t...

Re: Boot Hinges

I can't believe it took nearly a year to get around to fixing this. To fix the elongated and worn holes I made some blanking pieces and had a friend braze them it, before redrilling the holes. To reconnect the linkage I made a rivet out of a bolt that was heat treated before fixing it with a pein ha...

Re: DIY Rotisserie

I was wrong about mine peeling away. When I went to paint the brackets I saw angle grinder marks that tell the story - the last owner obviously had to cut the bolt head off in order to get the bumper off - so I'd guess the nut was just freewheeling inside.

Re: DIY Rotisserie

Thanks mate - I only discovered that three bolts were holding the bar on (plus the 2 fender bolts) when I took the bar off for rechroming. I tried to use a riv-nut, but found the hole was obstructed off to one side. It kind of feels like the nut may have "peeled" away to one side of the ho...

Re: DIY Rotisserie

3/8” UNF. Yes, the tow bar mounts over the bumper irons. I accidentally “liberated” a couple of the captive nuts on my ute trying to get the bolts out. I had to saw access holes inside the rear to weld in new ones. Suppose I could have used nutserts but not as strong. G'day Clay - you don't have an...

Re: tail light sealing

Thanks guys. And yep - if something needs to be overthunk - I'm your man. BTW - I have a couple of tubes of black mastic that I bought a while back, but contacted Selleys to see why you can't get the grey stuff - it turns out there's a global drought of ingredients and they've ceased production of b...

Re: tail light sealing

Hi, I've go some butyl mastic ready to seal up the newly chromed tail lights, but I can't work out whether or not to run a bead along the very bottom lip. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether to just seal the sides? The way I figure it, if water gets in through the dust seal holes it might escap...

Overrider lower mount brackets

Hi, Does anyone have a pair of lower overrider brackets they'd be willing to sell? I had the rechromed rear overriders in the cupboard for 20 years, but didn't have the brackets - and obviously sold the old car with the brackets on. The new(er) EK came with FB overriders (which I replaced with my re...

Exhaust extension

Hi, I'm about to re-chrome the rear bumper, but want to avoid getting carbon all over it like below. I was thinking about a turned down exhaust extension, but am just worried it might look a bit rubbish. Does anyone have any suggestions about the best way to avoid the carbon blackening? Exhaust.jpg

Re: Boot Hinges

Thanks Clay - I don't think there's meant to be any serious amount of play in the pivot points. As it turned out my passenger side one is really quite good without too much play. After cleaning it up and painting it, I think it'll do fine. IMG_8801.jpg As it turned out I needed the driver's side, an...

Re: Boot Hinges

I might take your passenger side hinge - I'm new to Gumtree but I'll try and send you a message. I just can't remember how worn mine was when I put the adjustable tensioner in.

Boot Hinges

Hi, I finally tracked down some replacement boot hinges. The driver's side one is in pretty good shape - doesn't have too much play in the pivot points. Having just cleaned it up with molasses followed by paint thinners, I was getting ready to hit it with some phosphoric acid and then paint it. Befo...
