Re: Neil's FB Station Wagon

Looking good. I am (was) a proponent of the wet rag quenching technique. Those Bunnings $10 bags of 20 micro-fibre rags are perfect for this, and many other car jobs. In terms of patch welding, may I suggest always working in one direction. In other words, do a tack, quench, move 20mm to the right, ...

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute

A few photos of what is working for me. Fortunately using Holden headers and intake manifold means everything is pretty level. However, the solid metal washers I have used allow you to take cuts off to level if need be. Photos of Rares gasket that works well and Permatex extractor gasket with metal ...

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute

Hi Clay, I reckon you are using the wrong gasket. Get an extractor gasket from Rares. Very thick composite and can handle the variation between manifolds well. Highly recomend them. I have a set of solid steel manifold washers (I think from ebay). You can put a bit of pressure on them! - but I reall...

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute

Forum is very quiet lately. All looks and not much discussion. I ran 2inch tripple SUs on my torrie in the 80's and didnt even know about regulators with no trouble at all. I guess it's a bit of pot luck though cause if your fuel pump is energetic and pumping 7 or more psi it's likely going to end i...

Re: Project 2.

Power steering play.
Not sure if I will go through with this, but so far it fits in the space and connects to the steering box. Quite a bit to do to get the column to join up without interfering with the collapsible column too much. Anyway some pics for entertainment.

Re: Project 2.

Yes, ground the pivot ball base level and opened up the quadrant where Mal's post piece bolts onto the gearbox so it fitted. Hope I've got the bearing spacing right!

Re: Project 2.

Fitted the Celica five speed over the last couple of days. Used the Mal Woods hydraulic thrust bearing, which required some modifications to the Dellow bell housing. Same pressure plate, clutch plate to suit Celica splines and new pilot bearing as Celica tiny in comparrison to Holden one. Had to mod...

Re: Project 2.

An update on the fan shroud. Finally fitted it today while still waiting on a few other bits and pieces to get the ute back on the road. Sorry about the picture quality.

Re: The loooonnng term EK 2 door project

Is changing your rear opening curve piece to match up with the existing b pillar and gutter line an option Blacky? The roof/ gutter line is already in place so why not match to those lines like your drawing seems to? Body mods are not my thing so happy to be shot to pieces😀

Re: Making your own braided hoses

$100 made up Clay. It's same as the Mal Woods bearing hoses but with a clearish plastic coating over the brades. Just lazy me really as I have the gear to make pipe one but was looking for a different look.

Re: Making your own braided hoses

Amazing coincidence. Opened this up while sitting in at Pirtek Fyshwick getting a braided clutch hose made. Sorry Harv, it's full length master to hydraulic throwout bearing.
